Koeltehof Packers will showcase its state-of-the-art technological advancements following extensive renovations at its facility in Kiepersol, Mpumalanga at a launch event on Friday 19 May. The agri-packer now packages and distributes 2.5 million cartons of avocados per year, both locally and abroad for surrounding local farms.
Upgrades at Koeltehof began over a year ago with a vision to construct a world-class facility. With these technological advancements, the packhouse team has seen its vision come to fruition. “This is a progressive transformation that is a win for all parties in the value chain,” said company Director, Dr Reuel Khoza. “These are the beginnings of world class ‘agri’ facilities, not only out of Mpumalanga, but out of Africa. We now have a facility that can stand its own, anywhere in the world”, Khoza emphasised.
The packhouse has dedicated hands-on management and seasonal capacity for 225 tonnes per 9-hour shift (4950 tonnes a month) – more than double the previous capacity. “Now more efficient than ever, Koeltehof will be recognised as an industry frontrunner. We will continue to deliver on our promise of being a ‘dependable agri-packing partner’,” said General Manager, Patrick Caetano.
Koeltehof Packers is a proud member of the South African Avocado Growers Association.
